Glossary

The core terms used in this conceptual introduction.

Agent Action

A Work Unit type for bounded work performed by an Agent.

App

A supporting system that carries out or records part of work. An App is not the structural parent or owner of that work merely because it is used there.

Automation

A Work Unit type for bounded work performed automatically under its defined method and controls.

Declared work

The business's authorised statement of intended work.

Department

Broad organisational context in the operational and assignment views.

Discovered work

Work as it appears to happen from available evidence.

Domain

A coherent area of responsibility within a Department.

Output

A reusable result produced by work.

Person

An occupant of exactly one Position at a time. A Person is not the work definition.

Position

A seat in the organisation to which one Person may be assigned. A Position can hold multiple Roles.

Process

A reusable method for doing work, such as an SOP, Skill or Automation Process.

Responsibility

A Work Unit type for meaningful recurring or when-required work.

Role

A reusable set of responsibilities or capabilities that can be shared across Positions and connects them to Work Units.

Work Module

A group of related Work Units around a shared object, interface, pattern or working context.

Work Unit

Meaningful recurring or when-required work with a trigger, inputs, intended result and completion boundary. Every valid Work Unit belongs to exactly one Work Module.

Workflow

A view of selected connections between Work Units. It does not contain Process Steps.
